About Jim
Jim Harger graduated from Georgia State University with an M.Ed. in Community Counseling in 1984. He has been licensed by the State of Georgia as a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1986. Jim has 28 years of professional experience as both a clinician and as an administrator in a variety of settings in both the public and private sector, including psychiatric hopsitals, managed care, employee assistance programs, and private practice. Areas of specialization include anxiety, critical incident debriefing, depression, grief, hypnosis, substance abuse, and trauma. Jim enjoys working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. He also provides educational seminars and community programs.
After coming to Christ, Jim experienced a significant enhancement in his counseling approach. While thoroughly trained in secular psychology, he found that the added dimension of a faith based approach greatly enhanced the effectiveness and outcomes in therapy. While this is not a required element, clients who wish to bring this dimension into their counseling are free to do so.
Jim is married to Penny Harger and they make their home in Gwinnett County. Jim has a 17 year old daughter, Emma and a 21 year old step-daughter, Kate. Jim and Penny are members of the Antioch Baptist Church in Albertville, Alabama. |
